Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said she would rather see President Trump “on a golf course” instead of in the Oval Office, comments that come after multiple intense threats from the president toward Iran. “You know, obviously, it’s awful that this guy’s playing golf, but, in a way, we’re already seeing that some of the most important military decision-makers in the country are trying to keep him out of consequential decisions,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporter Pablo Manríquez in a clip posted to the social platform X on Monday evening. “So, in some ways, you kind of want this guy on a golf course more than you want him in the Oval Office. But that also calls into question the 25th Amendment, because if he is being — if the determination is that Donald Trump cannot be trusted in the Situation Room and in unfolding scenarios, then he’s not fit to be president,” she added. In recent weeks, the president has launched multiple incendiary threats toward Iran amid tensions and conflict between Washington and Tehran, with some advocating for his removal over those threats. Earlier this month, he made a threat toward Iran’s “whole civilization” that received heavy backlash from Democrats. On Tuesday, Trump announced via a Truth Social post that he was extending the U.S. ceasefire with Iran until the Iranians come to the negotiation table with a plan. “Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump wrote. Iran alleged that the U.S. again on Tuesday violated the conditions of the ceasefire, shortly before Trump said he would extend the deadline. The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.
